In the past Fujitsu produced a hardware IPC card option for the higher end scanners which provide sophisticated image processing functions allowing users to extract the maximum detail and hence information from the documents being scanned.Now that PC's are becoming more powerful, this sort of processing can be performed on the fly as each document is scanned. Now Fujitsu has released an optional software package - Soft IPC which enables similar image processing functions to be performed on the lower end scanners.The software works as an enhancement to the TWAIN driver and ISIS driver, i.e. you will now see 2 drivers per installed (SoftIPC compatible) scanner in the 'Select Source' options of your TWAIN application, one will have the suffix '+ sipc'.
